Settling In

As our 'new normal' begins to settle we start looking at what needs to be done.

One thing that I have become aware of (as I am currently in bed...sick) is the importance of safety from chemicals in our house. Years ago upon our son being diagnosed with Autism we examined a lot of things in the house. The amount of cleaners, the chemicals, and realized much had been adding to his difficulties. Just a few short years later we revisited this when I learned the effect of other chemicals on my migraines. I started to switch to more natural homemade alternatives while keeping some 'heavy duty' cleaners around for major needs. (like bleach)

This morning as I sit in bed, my head sore, my balance off, my neck and shoulder muscles in incredible pain... I come across a website that evaluates many products for their safety. So I go on and type in some products.

To my amazement a product I considered 'safe' that I had been using a lot this past week...came up with an 'F' grade... it failed...because of the effects to the nervous system... the system that is damaged in people with Fibromyalgia. Ouch.

Before I go any further, Here is the Site:

https://www.ewg.org/

They offer an app that I immediately uploaded to my phone.. It is called the EWG Healthy Living where you can type in a name, look up a product, or even scan the bar code, it will pull up a list of it's ingredients with a grade on each to their danger. (also to what the danger is for...nervous system, asthma, reproductive, etc..)

Also since researching I have been running in circles with the amount of information covering this chronic condition. So many have opinions as to what causes it, how it works, what to do. People claim to have cured themselves, companies devoted to medications that fix it, pharma companies claiming they have medications to treat it, others who claim their exact mix of supplements will cure you.

Frustrating. I bounced around... muscles, nerves, supplements, pain medications, it is so much to work a plan out, how do I even begin. I searched YouTube for other patients wondering if they had any opinions... too many opinions as I found. So I searched for more clear medical data... nothing is really coming across to general practitioners... but there MUST be some data out there!

I found a lot. Lots of data... just there... but no one seemingly putting it together into clear data. However I found this video..and it has been the most clear, well presented, through, presentation I have found while doing research.

I've been trying to load the YouTube video directly here..however I am having great difficulty getting it to. So I will post the title with link instead..

Fibromyalgia Cutting Through the B.S.

In short- it is a nervous system disorder that has progressed over many years causing damage throughout the body in different ways. So by the time we notice the problems..it has been adding up and is all connected.

So as we begin to face this chronic condition, we are first tackling the home. I will be decluttering the house..less stuff to clean and work around is less stress. I will be at the same time cleaning out our products..those that may be adding to nerve pain in my body. This will help all over environment of the home where I am. Giving me a place to rest and recharge in a healthy way.

While we are doing this I will be tracking my pain and symptoms. Time will start to show me connections when I become over whelmed with pain to what I've done, or what I can do to help.

My husband and I talked about doing a vlog along the lines of Family Life with Fibromylagia- being that so many people are on with 'solutions' but no one just showing how they live and thrive.

In other news we are gearing up for vacation soon! A few short days is all we could pull away from my husbands two jobs, and for 5 days in a row he will be home! So exciting, just a little less then a week we will be unplugging, disconnecting, and enjoying summer... it will be the end of summer..but I will finally have some time to enjoy it!
