Introductions
So Introductions?
I am a stay at home mother, the type that although wakes by 6am and doesn't sleep until after 10pm, spend over 20 hours a week out of the house running errands, society often deems my job as lazy or useless.
I am also a largish family mother, I have 5 children. There will be no more as surgery has closed that avenue off, however we often have talked about when they are older moving towards fostering or adopting.
I am a Christian- I do not belong to any 'group' or specific 'denomination', as I often find that loyalty shifts from Christ to the group and whoever is in control of the group seems to move their belief into their own ways.
I have, but do not currently homeschool. We did for around 6 years until we found a private school in our area that we could afford, that would work with our children, and used a material that functioned well. Sometimes, some rare times, I do miss homeschooling. Mostly I am incredibly blessed by the school and often times pray thanks to God for all they have offered.
The ages of the children range from 14 months old to almost 14 years old. So I am a Mom of toddler and a Mom of teenagers.... it's often times hard to wrap my head around moving from Teenager independence and boundary testing to diapers and singing the ABC's.
I have reached my Senior Year in college for a Bachelors in Psychology with specialization in Christian Counseling... but had to drop out because of the financial burden. I never stopped wanting to learn and find myself reading everything, working through everything... yet feeling useless with no degree to say or prove I am capable.
My husband is a bi-vocational Pastor. He works 40 hours at a building company and the rest of the hours in and out of church. Most weeks he never has a day off as one job off is overlapping another job on. On those rare open days he often volunteers time to help others or get work done elsewhere.
This September we will have been married 13 years. 13 long crazy, painful, fun, horrible, difficult, struggling, laughing, years. Marriage is a mix. Some years it has been so bad, others we have enjoyed. Day by Day we take what comes our way and work with it. Although I still have my dreams and wait...
We are in debt. From College loans to Health bills, and Cards we lived on through the down economic spin of 2009, bad choices of moving and switching jobs... we find we are constantly under the burden of owing someone. We keep up our payments and are constantly looking to save money to pull out. I was very ashamed of this until I realized how many Americans are in this struggle, and how with some encouragement we can help each other get out.
We are not on government assistance, my husband works very hard to keep us above that line, but we are only just above that line. Often times we find after everything is paid and done (taxes and dues taken out) we have less to work with then many. We keep working on Praising God for each paid bill and the ability to be able to bless others when needed in free conscience.
We do live in the church Parsonage. A parsonage is a house owned by the church that the pastor is able to live in as long as he continues as their pastor. This house therefor is not ours, and all decisions on paint, decorating (to the extent of shelves, changing things beyond our furniture) any issues (leaking fridge, struggling stove, pipe issues, fireplace usage) all go through the Board of Administration for approval or denial before anything can be done. Now we can change a light bulb... but if I want to tear up the carpet that has been here since 1970 and is nasty stained, I need approval and a list of what I plan to do, how much it would cost, if I expected them to pay for it... before I could start. So no renovations without complete approval.
We own used vehicles so they are often in need of continual maintenance, however we own them outright and do not owe a loan, lease, or anything. They are our hunks of metal and we adore them!
As far as introductions go, I think this sums up the major points don't you? Why this blog? So I can keep friends, family, updated on life, so I can share our tips for living, so I can share my heart over issues.
I will blog- over Life, Family, Ministry, Money, anything that perhaps crosses my mind? Oh... and I adore taking pictures and studing history... I may even share some.
Blessings
Becca
