Settling In

As our 'new normal' begins to settle we start looking at what needs to be done. One thing that I have become aware of (as I am currently in bed...sick) is the importance of safety from chemicals in our house. Years ago upon our son being diagnosed with Autism we examined a lot of things in the house. The amount of cleaners, the chemicals, and realized much had been adding to his difficulties. Just a few short years later we revisited this when I learned the effect of other chemicals on my migraines. I started to switch to more natural homemade alternatives while keeping some 'heavy duty' cleaners around for major needs. (like bleach) This morning as I sit in bed, my head sore, my balance off, my neck and shoulder muscles in incredible pain... I come across a website that evaluates many products for their safety. So I go on and type in some products. To my amazement a product I considered 'safe' that I had been using a lot this past week...came up with an ...

Wait... what?

So I've had a rather difficult week. I received a phone call that confirmed a diagnoses that my doctor has been considering. She sent me for blood work for a long list of issues. She looked at my history, covering two doctors, a neurologist, CAT scans, previous blood work, emergency room visits, medications... and after many blood tests to rule out major issues, I was diagnosed.. or labeled with Fibromyalgia. I hesitate to type diagnose... because for many they doubt it is real. They state it's physiological a form of hypochondria.  These assumptions are based on the reality that there is no single identifiable cause for the amount and verity of pain a person goes through, and it can't be treated with surgery or medication. Therefore many dismiss the condition as a mental battle. However they have studied it over many years and have been able to prove it does exist. Why, however, is still up for debate (as is many questions over why any disease) Current theories involve...

BIRTHDAY- budgeted

Image
Two of my children share the birthday month August.. So we decided to give them a birthday party. Party's can be very expensive so I started working on ways to make it very affordable while saving money for something special. We hosted the party in the church- often times churches will make available their fellowship hall, social hall, or what ever they call it (often used for gatherings, dinner, etc) for free to members of their congregation. This gave us not only a place to use for a large amount of people but also a kitchen with supplies to use! A cut out from the churches family day activities years before...Fun! I designed the invitations myself on the computer and printed some to hand out...the rest I sent over the internet- email, messanger, however it could go out I sent it out. Easy, done, no stamps, postal office, or frustration needed- in one afternoon! Next we shopped around for the cakes. I had planned on buying regular cakes at a basic grocery store- mayb...

Introductions

Image
So Introductions? I am a stay at home mother, the type that although wakes by 6am and doesn't sleep until after 10pm, spend over 20 hours a week out of the house running errands, society often deems my job as lazy or useless. I am also a largish family mother, I have 5 children. There will be no more as surgery has closed that avenue off, however we often have talked about when they are older moving towards fostering or adopting. I am a Christian- I do not belong to any 'group' or specific 'denomination', as I often find that loyalty shifts from Christ to the group and whoever is in control of the group seems to move their belief into their own ways. I have, but do not currently homeschool. We did for around 6 years until we found a private school in our area that we could afford, that would work with our children, and used a material that functioned well. Sometimes, some rare times, I do miss homeschooling. Mostly I am incredibly blessed by the school and o...
